KNEE IMPLANT – The coefficient of friction of UHMWPE along an entire walking cycle using a ball-on-disc tribometer under arthrokinematics and loading conditions prescribed by ISO 14243-3:2014

PCS Instrument(s): MTM
Summary: This study used an MTM to measure the friction of UHMWPE throughout a full walking cycle under knee implant conditions. It showed that friction is higher during swing than stance, defying classical EHL expectations. The findings help improve prosthetic knee design by identifying when and how friction peaks during movement.
